HANAMAULU — A political forum featuring candidates for the lieutenant governor’s seat is set for Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort near Hanamaulu.
Four of the five candidates have confirmed participation. Kauai Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr., state Sens. Josh Green and Will Espero, and former state Board of Education member Kim Coco Iwamoto said they will be there. State Sen. Jill Tokuda is unable to attend.
“We are hosting the candidates’ forum in order to help inform voters about their choices this election year,” said Mark Perriello, president of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce.
Perriello said there are many critical issues facing the county and state.
“The leaders will have a direct impact on things like traffic, tourism and education,” he said.
A forum for mayoral candidates is set for July 10 at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
The forums will be moderated, with pre-selected questions.
The forums are free and are being hosted by the Kauai Chamber of Commerce, Family and Friends of Agriculture, Hawii Lodging and Tourism Association Kauai Chapter, Kauai Board of Realtors, YWCA, Kauai Filipino Chamber of Commerce, Outrigger Kiahuna and Pac Build.
