Wilfred Ibara
Wilfred Ibara, 76, of Kekaha, passed away on April 22, 2018, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Jan. 13, 1942, in Waimea, he was retired from Kekaha Sugar Company and served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by parents Saburo and Rose Ibara.
He is survived by daughters Angela (Jim Coburn) Ibara of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Julie Ibara of Anaheim, California, brothers Richard (Irm) Ibara of Mountain View, California, Les (Linda) Ibara of Waimea and Tom (Melanie) Ibara of Waimea, sisters Pat (Glenn) Nitta of Waimea and Sue (Allen) Arquette of Waimea, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 2, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kekaha Ward at 10:30 a.m. A private scattering of ashes will take place.
The family suggests aloha attire, and requests no koden (monetary gifts) or flowers.

Doriann C. Garan Ching
Doriann C. Garan Ching, 70, of Kapaa, passed away on April 20, 2018, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Dec. 20, 1947, in Kapaa, she was employed with the BeachBoy Hotel and the Westin Kauai Hotel in the human resources department, and with the state State Department of Education.
She was preceded in death by husband William “Willy” Ching, father Hermenigildo Garan, stepmother Carmen Garan, mother Amelia Poli, stepfather Arthur Poli, and brothers Benjiman, Herman and Benidict Garan.
She is survived by daughters Dana (Cory) Paden of Lihue, stepdaughter Myra (Pedro Gutierez) Ching-Remitio of Pearl City, stepson Wesley Ching of Honolulu, stepmother Carmen Garan, grandchildren Anthony, Matthew and Charles Remitio, Rylee Ellamar, Hayden Ching, Kilian and Jaxyn Paden and Chantelle Ching, great-grandchild Elyse Remitio, brothers Gaylen (Sally) Garan of Las Vegas, Baron Garan of San Diego and Elmer Garan of Sacramento, sisters Josephine (Tony Balada Jr.) Koga of Honolulu, Shirley (Bert) Crowder of Honolulu and Bette Lee Poli of Honolulu, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 2, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa from 8 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be held at St. Catherine Church Cemetery.

Castora ‘Casey’ Guillermo Suero
Castora “Casey” Guillermo Suero, 96, of Lihue, passed away in Wilcox Medical Center on May 14, 2018. She was born in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on March 29, 1922, and retired as a butcher with Yoneji Store. She was an active member of the Lihue Senior Center and an avid crocheter, making beanies and blankets for friends and family.
She was preceded in death by husband Catalino Suero, daughter Andrita Perreira, son Catalino Suero II, sister Nancy Corpuz, and brother Nicanor Guillermo.
She is survived by children Carmencita (Aurilio) Padilla, Kathleen (Ronald) Aceret, Catalino “Tino” (Carol Joslin) Suero III and Charlmaine (Adams) Bulosan, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 1, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Clyde Kazuo Tasaka
Clyde Kazuo Tasaka, 81, of Kapaa, passed away on May 12, 2018, at his home in Kapaa.
Born on Nov. 30, 1936, in Kilauea, he was a retired school teacher and counselor with Kapaa High School, and served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by wife Margaret Tasaka, parents Kenichi and Asayo Tasaka, brother Vernon Tasaka, parents-in-law Asaichi and Isano Yasuda, and brother-in-law Wilfred Yasuda.
He is survived by daughter Toni (Pancho) Tasaka-Alapai of Wailua Houselots, grandson and best friend Jai Kazuo Aukake Alapai, step-grandchildren Maka‘ai Kahealani and Shea-Nainoa Alapai, sisters Winona (Tom) Yoshida of Oahu and Gladys “Shinae” Tasaka of Hanalei, sister-in-law Marjorie (Mitsugi) Nakashima, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 2, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel in Lawai from 10 to 10:45 a.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Oihana ‘Kalei’ Leimana Kanahele Jr.
Oihana “Kalei” Leimana Kanahele Jr., 60, of Niihau, passed away on May 15, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 17, 1957, in Pu‘uwai, Niihau, he was a rancher for Niihau Ranch.
He was preceded in death by father Oihana Leimana Kanahele Sr., mother Evaline Kamala, brother Bernard Oliwa Kanahele, and sister Cynthia Ku‘uleipupu Kanahele.
He is survived by wife Dale Evans Kuuipo Kanahele, sons Bert (Alakai) Kanahele of Kekaha, Brett (Sariah) Kanahele of Kekaha, Brian (Clarisse) Kanahele of Makaweli and Bryson James (Ruth Kerrylyann) Kanahele of Kekaha, daughters Laurie (Raymond) Pahulehua of Pu‘uwai, Jerry (James) Shintani of Hanapepe, Lucille Kanahele of Pu‘uwai, Cynthia Kanahele of Pu‘uwai, Brittney Pahulehua of Pu‘uwai, Shania Kanahele of Hanapepe, 16 grandchildren, brothers Wilson Pomaikai (Marylou) Kanahele of Kekaha and Tom Keali‘i (Alison) Kanahele of Kauai, sisters Evaline “Tuti” Kanahele of Honolulu, Doreen “Oear” Kanahele of Hanapepe and Mileka Puuwai Kanahele of Honolulu, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 28, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel in Lawai from 9 to 10:45 a.m., where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.

Judy Ann Yun Wah Manuel, 67, of Kekaha, passed away on April 17, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Born on July 4, 1950, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, she was a food and beverage server.
She was preceded in death by husband Daryl Manuel, father Patrick Faustino Apilado, and brothers Abraham Apilado and Patrick W.Y. Apilado Sr.
She is survived by sons Jason (Shanlyn Parubrub) Apilado of Lihue and Justin (Marsha) Manuel of Kekaha, daughters Erika (Joshua) Manuel Burton of Kekaha and Shari Manuel of Kekaha, grandchildren Kaelin Manuel Burton, Brandee Burton, Brianna Mizumoto-Manuel, Cori Burton, Jayden Mizumoto-Manuel, Rylan Mizumoto-Manuel, Jenson Apilado, Jaycie Apilado, Taylor Apilado and Tisha Burton, mother Soon Ne Apilado, sisters Marilynn (Phil) Laker of Arizona and Suzanne (Tom) Novak of Arizona, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebration of life services will be held on Sunday, June 3, at noon at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center.

Fely Aquino Begonia
Fely Aquino Begonia, 90, of Omao, passed away on May 11, 2018, in Kapolei. Born in Koloa on Oct. 8, 1927, she was a retired meat cutter at Foodland.
She was preceded in death by husband Juan Begonia, and daughters Judith Raven and Colleen Ariola. She is survived by sons John (Dorena) Begonia and Reuben (Trenna) Begonia, daughters Barbara (Roger) Rogelstad and Stella Begonia, brothers Pat Aquino, Don Aquino and Wen Aquino, sisters Mercy Remata, Nadia Sarmiento and Dinah Tavares, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with family on Saturday, June 2, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa from 9 to 9:45 a.m., with Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.

Julia McGovern
Julia McGovern passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2018.
She is survived by sisters Pat, Mary Rose and Susan, and a brother, David.
Julia loved her family and friends and we will all miss her wonderful laugh and sense of humor. She thanks every person who came into her life.
