Doriann C. Garan Ching
Doriann C. Garan Ching, 70, of Kapaa, passed away on April 20, 2018, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Dec. 20, 1947, in Kapaa, she was employed with The Beachboy Hotel and the Westin Kauai hotel in the human resources department, and retired from the state Department of Education.
She was preceded in death by husband William “Willy” Ching, father Hermenigildo Garan, stepmom Carmen Garan, mother Amelia Poli, stepfather Arthur Poli, and brothers Benjiman, Herman and Benidict Garan.
She is survived by daughters Dana (Cory) Paden of Lihue, stepdaughter: Myra (Pedro Gutierez) Ching-Remitio of Pearl City, Oahu, stepson Wesley Ching of Honolulu, stepmom Carmen Garan, grandchildren Anthony, Matthew, Charles Remitio, Rylee Ellamar, Hayden Ching, Kilian, Jaxyn Paden and Chantelle Ching, great-grandchild Elyse Remitio, brothers Gaylen (Sally) Garan of Las Vegas, Baron Garan of San Diego and Elmer Garan of Sacramento, sisters Josephine (Tony Balada, Jr.) Koga of Honolulu, Shirley (Bert) Crowder of Honolulu, Bette Lee Poli of Honolulu, sister-in-law Okhui Garan and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 2, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa from 8 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be at St. Catherine Church Cemetery.
The family suggests aloha attire.

Consolita B. Agbulos
Consolita B. Agbulos, 90, of Kekaha, passed away on April 7, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 3, 1927 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by husband Aurellano A. Agbulos, father Paulo Bautista, mother Florencia Catura Bautista and son-in-law Mark Maruyama.
She is survived by daughters Avelina Maruyama of Kekaha, Doris Agbulos of Kekaha and Nely (Danillo) Caberto of Kekaha, grandchildren Telissa (Kekoa Woo) Agbulos, Nekicia Maruyama and Keane Caberto, great-grandchildren Jordyn Maruyama-Chang Wo, Mahina Woo and Tykei Chang Wo, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friend may visit with the family on May 26, 2018 at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha from 9 to 10:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire.

Samuel L. Tobey
Samuel L. Tobey, 90, of Lihue, passed away on May 19, 2018, at his home in Lihue.
Born on Sept. 20, 1927, in Van Nuyes, California, he was a maintenance supervisor with the L.A. Department of Water & Power.
He is survived by nephew Billy Morgan of California, and long-time friends Darrell Jordon and Charlie Baker of Kalaheo.
A beach memorial will be held at a later date.

Clyde Kazuo Tasaka
Clyde Kazuo Tasaka, 81, of Kapaa, passed away on May 12, 2018, at his home in Kapaa.
Born on Nov. 30, 1936 in Kilauea, he was a retired school teacher and counselor with Kapaa High School, and served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by wife Margaret Tasaka, parents Kenichi and Asayo Tasaka, brother Vernon Tasaka, parents-in-law Asaichi and Isano Yasuda and brother-in-law Wilfred Yasuda.
He is survived by daughter Toni (Pancho) Tasaka-Alapai of Wailua Houselots, grandson and best friend Jai Kazuo Aukake Alapai, step-grandchildren Maka‘ai Kahealani and Shea-Nainoa Alapai, sisters Winona (Tom) Yoshida of Oahu and Gladys “Shinae” Tasaka of Hanalei, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 2, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel in Lawai from 10 to 10:45 a.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Kathleen Adair Brown
Kathleen Adair Brown, 97, of Waimea, passed away on May 16, 2018 in Waimea.
Born on May 15, 1921 in North Hollywood, California, she was an artist.
She was preceded in death by husband Charles M Brown Jr., daughters Kathleen Fleming and Mary Brown, and son Robert Adair Hardin Brown.
She is survived by son Charles M. Brown III of Waimea, daughter Jeanne M. McVey of Washington, D.C., four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 24, at 3:30 p.m. at Kekaha Chinese Public Cemetery next to the Kekaha Boat House.

Richard L.K. ‘Peachy’ Sheldon
Richard L.K. “Peachy” Sheldon, 75, of Wailua, passed away at home on Friday, May 18, 2018. He was born on Sept. 7, 1942, in Kapaa. He was an amazing husband, father, papa, son, brother and friend, and he will be dearly missed.
He was a deputy chief of police, acting chief of police and a graduate of the FBI Academy.
He was a family man who believed that “The most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home.”
He was preceded in death by parents Henry C.K. Sheldon and Sarah W.K. Sheldon, brothers Samuel W. Sheldon and Thomas “Luby” Sheldon, and daughter Cherie Sheldon Logan.
He is survived by wife Jeannie, children Momi (Fig) Mitchell, Keala (Morris) Unutoa, Dan (Kainoa) Sheldon and Brianne (Jerry) Shiroma, siblings Henry K. Sheldon of Dallas, Joyanne P. Dilwith and Albert Fukushima of Wailua, grandchildren Kamalei (Ilse), Ariane, Lasha and Sequoia Logan, Grant and Gianna Mitchell, Mo, Eli, Lilia and Kamaile Unutoa, Dallin Sheldon and Kiani Pu‘u-Blackstad, Kaulia, Keao and Nohili Shiroma, great-grandchildren Hanalei Wasson and Galilea Logan, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kapaa Ward (4561 Ohia St.) on Saturday, June 2, with viewing at 9 a.m. and services to follow at 11 a.m. Burial services will take place at Kauai Memorial Gardens in Kapaia.

Oihana “Kalei” Leimana Kanahele Jr., 60, of Pu‘uwai, Niihau, passed away on May 15, 2018 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 17, 1957 in Pu‘uwai, Niihau, he was a rancher for Niihau Ranch.
He was preceded in death by father Oihana Leimana Kanahele Sr., mother Evaline Kamala, brother Bernard Oliwa Kanahele and sister Cynthia Ku‘uleipupu Kanahele.
He is survived by wife Dale Evans Kuuipo Kanahele, sons Bert (Alakai) Kanahele of Kekaha, Brett (Sariah) Kanahele of Kekaha, Brian (Clarisse) Kanahele of Makaweli and Bryson James (Ruth Kerrylyann) Kanahele of Kekaha, daughters Laurie (Raymond) Pahulehua of Pu‘uwai, Jerry (James) Shintani of Hanapepe, Lucille Kanahele of Pu‘uwai, Cynthia Kanahele of Pu‘uwai, Brittney Pahulehua of Pu‘uwai, Niihau, Shania Kanahele of Hanapepe, 16 grandchildren, brothers Wilson Pomaikai (Marylou) Kanahele of Kekaha and Tom Keali‘i (Alison) Kanahele of Kauai, sisters Evaline “Tuti” Kanahele of Honolulu and Doreen “Oear” Kanahele of Hanapepe and Mileka Puuwai Kanahele of Honolulu, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ercelly Mary Soriano Renti Cruz, 81, of Kalaheo, passed away on May 9, 2018, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Dec. 8, 1936, in the Philippines, she was a retired nursing supervisor at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by husband Dr. William Renti Cruz and son Daniel Renti Cruz.
She is survived by daughters Diana Honjiyo of Eleele and Dena Renti Cruz of Kalaheo, brother Conrad Soriano of California, sisters Conchita (Bruce) Hallingstad of Minnesota and Lillian (Roger) Duncan of Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 2, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
