Huge mahalo to Gabbard for hands-on help after floods
As we enter the next phase of recovery in flood-damaged neighborhoods of Kauai, I wanted to give a huge mahalo to ourcongresswoman Tulsi Gabbard for her hands-on help in the immediate aftermath of the floods. Folks here in Wainiha andHaena were uplifted by the several visits she made to our neighborhoods to help us.
Tulsi walked her talk and took immediate action. It was Tulsi who informed the president of Samaritan’s Purse of thedevastation, who then traveled to Kaua’i to see firsthand how the organization could help. They arrived with 60 tons ofsupplies, wood, equipment for rebuilding and also volunteer laborers to assist families with repairs to our flooded homes.Samaritan’s Purse linked arms with our amazing community and committed to help us with immediate disaster relief, repairhomes and support us as we recover.
Now, at the congresswoman’s request, they are purchasing and sending over respirator masks for the Puna residents onHawaii Island, costing over $100,000 so far. What an impact!
My family, so many of my neighbors, and friends on Big Island are benefiting from Tulsi’s fast response to our needs!

A California judge overturned the state’s right-to-die law due to a technicality. The State will respond and, because the vast majority of the electorate supports the law, it will be thankfully re-instated.
This same obstructionism could happen in Hawaii. God forbid.

Amending the CA euthanasia law is sorely needed (and OR, WA, CO and HI). Even as they proclaimed that the poison must be self-administered to divert normal scrutiny they did not provide for an ordinary witness. The difference is that without a witness it allows predators to force euthanasia but with a witness they would up hold individual choice.
Amendments would include requiring a witness to self-administration, restore the illegality of falsifying the death certificate, require the posting of the poison applied in the medical record, register organ/tissue trafficking, reveal commissions and memorials paid to the corporate facilitators and keep all records for good public safety policy.
