HONOLULU — Representatives of government agencies and eligible private nonprofit agencies with costs related to the recent flooding on Kauai and in East Honolulu are invited to applicant briefings for the Federal Public Assistance program. The presentation will include application procedures, administrative requirements and funding and program eligibility criteria.
HONOLULU — Representatives of government agencies and eligible private nonprofit agencies with costs related to the recent flooding on Kauai and in East Honolulu are invited to applicant briefings for the Federal Public Assistance program. The presentation will include application procedures, administrative requirements and funding and program eligibility criteria.
Under the FPA program, the Federal Emergency Management Agency awards grants to assist state and local governments and eligible private nonprofit entities with recovery efforts. The declaration currently provides funds for eligible debris removal, emergency protective measures and permanent work. The federal share of the funding is 75 percent of the eligible costs.
Applicant briefings will be held Wednesday, May 23, from 9 to 11:00 a.m. in the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency Building 303 Multipurpose Room, 3949 Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, and Thursday, May 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Kauai Emergency Management Agency offices, 3990 Kaana St., Suite 100, Lihue.

Private, nonprofit organizations interested in attending should contact Wong-Lau to receive a private nonprofit packet which will explain the required documentation to be submitted with the request for public assistance.
The Major Disaster Declaration signed by President Donald Trump on May 8, 2018, authorized the inclusion of the City & County of Honolulu and the County of Kauai for supplemental funding under the FPA program for recovery from severe storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides during the incident period April 13-16, 2018.
