LIHUE — The KUGA (Kauai Underground Artists) 10th annual Creative Love Life Dance Showcase opens today at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
“We are proud to be the first show promoting a love for life in the newly renovated convention hall,” said Lila Metzger of KUGA. “We are featuring more than 200 dancers in this amazing show.”
Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. There is an admission fee of $5. Children 2 and under admitted free.
The 10th annual KUGA Love Life Dance Showcase, purposed to create a drug-free and suicide-free culture on Kauai through inspiring a love for life through creative expression, continues Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday’s events move to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. to feature food trucks, break-dance battles, special guest judges and disc jockeys, interactive art by KUGA Visual Arts, and a dance showcase.
Saturday’s admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Children 5 and under are admitted free.
On the agenda are KUGA’s production of “The Light Giver,” the battle for one, search for Hawaii’s No. 1 breaker, and more.
Guests are encouraged to bring beach chairs or blankets for the lawn.
Sunday events move to the Kalaheo KUGA studios adjacent to the Kauai Kookie Kitchen on Kaumualii Highway at Papalina Road, where free dance workshops will be offered between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
