LIHUE — The Kauai Emergency Management Agency is urging Kauai residents affected by the April 14-15 flooding to submit any unreported damages of homes and businesses. All reports will be used in the state’s appeal to qualify for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Individual Assistance program.
LIHUE — The Kauai Emergency Management Agency is urging Kauai residents affected by the April 14-15 flooding to submit any unreported damages of homes and businesses. All reports will be used in the state’s appeal to qualify for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Individual Assistance program.
On May 9, FEMA denied Gov. David Ige’s request for Individual Assistance for both the County of Kauai and the City and County of Honolulu. It was determined that Hawaii did not meet its impact criteria for funding.
The State of Hawaii, with support from both counties, has decided to appeal FEMA’s decision.
Individuals wishing to report their damages are asked to visit the county’s website www.kauai.gov and click on the “Online Damage Form” link on the home page. Residents may also submit their report by calling KEMA at 241-1800 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Friday.
The state has until June 9 to appeal FEMA’s decision.
