Zuckerburg project deserves consideration
It was interesting to look at Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s plans for their home and agricultural building in Kauai.
I am writing to encourage the county planners and community at large to support this project.
As a resident of Menlo Park, I have seen how dedicated this family is to supporting the community of Menlo Park and the San Francisco Bay Area. They have made generous contributions to our schools and donated millions of dollars to San Francisco General hospital, now called Priscilla Chan Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General hospital. They have offered an ambitious plan to improve the adjacent streets around Facebook with new traffic plans, shops, and housing.
Having this family involved in your community will be a win/win experience for the Kauai citizens.

Military responds to request
I realize that your response was to support Ms. Yukimura but you failed to comprehend that I was on PMRF and SAW with my own eyes what went on. While yes the military did come down they did not take over the island and proclaim martial law. This would have allowed them to do all the things that they wanted to do without needing our mayor’s approval and acceptance.
A good example to prove my point, this past week Kauai went through a horrible flood due to the weather and the military came. Why? Because our major today asked for help.
Ms.Davis, you grew up on Oahu and at the time of the hurricane you were only 19? Where you living on the west side so that you could experience what she did to the people there? Saying you’re not a new comer is not the point and it has nothing to do with this issue. Listing your families history is to prove what? That they held positions of status and ran companies that controlled the state? But that again proves my point on who you are and why you stood up for Ms. Yukimura.
Oh and Ms.Davis just in case you didn’t know the definition of Martial law is the imposition of direct military control of normal civilian functions of government, especially in response to a temporary emergency such as invasion or major disaster, or in an occupied territory, which never happened on Kauai!

I don’t know much about Zuckerberg’s building plans here, but it sounds like they will be happy to help out our island, from time to time.

You are using the Letters to disparage Joann Yukimura and then to criticize one “Ms. Davis”, but you do not provide a reference to exactly where Ms, Davis wrote in contradiction to what you alleged. Quite unprofessional, as you have not indicated where one could read M. Davis’ rebuttal.
Your diatribe about “Martial Law” (or not) holds no water here.
And best to proofread your letters before submitting them. In your second paragraph, you indicated that “Because our major today asked for help.” Our major? As in a military major? Or perhaps you meant our MAYOR? And, if so, why did he wait until TODAY to ask?
You are quickly losing all credibility.
Marshall law would be a great difficulty. How poisonous is the gas in close distances? Like where the photographer was? Within 10 ft. Is this enough to kill him or her there?
Uhhhhh…………………it’s rather widely known as “martial law!”

Are you suggesting we should be ready for our island to have a name change.
It seems the prior article of which you speak was suggesting that the 2 bedroom home being built by these very generous people is considerably large for even a 2 bedroom home wherein the article indicated it may only be a guest house later when the actual mansion will be built, and that makes sense.
But Ms. Daye, a guest house can only be 500 square feet in size. Hardly large enough for the Zuckerbergs to live in especially with 2 children already.
Though with 700 acres one would suppose they could subdivide…!

Well Cecelia, it’s good to know you worship at the Zuckerberg shrine! To be honest, I haven’t seen all the plans he has for his property, but I do believe a person should have leeway to do many things on their own property, even though some neighbor might be uncomfortable with it. That being said, one would have to question your motive for coming out in such a strong way, taking the time to stick your nose in, and be self motivated to further the Zuckerberg cause all the way from Menlo Park, California? Is he paying you? Do you work for one of his companies? Why would you even get involved in something like this?

Mark Zuckerberg’s security people headed up by former KPD Shawn Smith are blocking a historic public, ala loa trail whose existence was stipulated by the seller Larry Bowman. A call to the Lihue PR firm and an email were ignored.
The people being blocked are the ones who say: “Oh, I must have taken a wrong turn back there. Yes, I realize I’m some distance from the coast but I thought the trail might go inland for a ways! Sooooorry!”
I’m quite certain Mr. Rita never served in the military or did not pay attention during his service! Hurry up and wait is the slogan. While you are waiting (with absolutely no explanation) you pass the time by creating lots of conspiracy theories as to why you’re waiting! Sometimes, and this certainly happened in 1992, you pass those theories on to gullible civilians (who never served)!
