Visita ‘Mina’ Filomena Villanueva Viernes Turqueza
Visita “Mina” Filomena Villanueva Viernes Turqueza of Hanamaulu passed away on April 5, 2018, at home at the age of 93. Born on July 2, 1924 in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband Metodio Turqueza, parents Claudio and Dionicia Viernes, brothers Bartolome, Macario and Gorgonio Viernes, and sisters Delfina Idlao and Colleta Viernes.
She is survived by son Patricio “Mr. Pat” (Pauline) Viernes, granddaughter Venessa F. Viernes, great-granddaughter Kylee Viernes Toyama, sister-in-law Carlina Viernes, and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with family on Saturday, May 5, at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 to 9:30 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Iwata Jr.
Paul Seisuke Iwata Jr. of Hanapepe passed away at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home on March 12, 2018, at the age of 76. He was born in Waimea on July 23, 1941, and was a security guard with Blue Knight Services Hawaii Inc.
He was preceded in death by parents Paul and Emily Iwata Sr., and sister Lorna Iwata.
He is survived by sons Jason (Jolly) Iwata and Duane Iwata, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister Alma (David) Silver, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 12, at Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m.

Masumi Yoshioka Hayward
Masumi Yoshioka Hayward, 61, of Princeville, passed away on March 29, 2018, in Wilcox Medical Center, surrounded by family and loved ones.
She was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on July 15, 1956, and worked as an accountant at Princeville Makai Golf Course.
She was preceded in death by husband Ward Hayward, and is survived by her companion, Ralph E. Kitashima, sisters Mariko Yoshioka and Mayumi Machida, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins in Japan, and second cousins in Hawaii.
A celebration of life will be held on May 6 from noon to 4 p.m. The celebration of life will be in potluck style. Please bring your favorite dish to share. The family requests guests call for more information and location of services, 826-7584.
