Kudos to Adam Asquith (remember the charcoal-burning car from the Tropical Agriculture Awareness Day a few years ago?) who coordinated a big cleanup from the floods, last week.
The Kealia Farms Wagon Stop (it’s strange seeing it as a staging area instead of the farmers market) staging area was filled with volunteers (kiddles must have had a blast getting dirty!) and Lihue Kinimaka of The Green Pig coordinated all the food, much of it coming from the efforts of Marcos Rodriguez who dropped off a pickup full of goodies, and Sean Chun (he did the blessing for the Kauai Special Olympics flame that came from the volcano to light up the 50th anniversary!) whose box of “snacks” was eagerly taken by Dale Rosenfeld (how did we know she would be there?).
And, we can’t forget the people who help in times other than disaster — kudos to Shannon Maxwell and her Enterprise Rent-A-Car ‘ohana who served up a nice shoyu chicken plate lunch to benefit the Visitor Industry Charity Walk (it’s coming up, May 12 at the North Vidinha Stadium).
Samira Siale said she already has her tickets for the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort’s pancake breakfast this Saturday (Maile Lewis said it starts from 7 a.m.). And, who is celebrating their 11th anniversary with a pancake breakfast?
Saturday is also the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life with Patti Ornellas and her crew (look for the Fely’s Angels’ specials!) along with Tiffany Dodge from the Aloha Dance Studio who will do the luminaria lighting honors (that was chicken skin, last year) starting at 6 p.m. at the Hanapepe soccer fields (it’s right next to the Hanapepe Stadium).
