KEALIA — Casera Silva came up the food chain to beat out her sister Coryssa Silva in the 3D barrel racing event during the Kauai All Girl Rodeo Association, Rodeo No. 2 contested at the Kealia Arena courtesy of Stuart Wellington on March 11.
Following the traditional results audit, Casera posted first place finishes in goat tying, the 1st D of barrel racing where she beat out Coryssa by just .05 second, and finished fourth in the breakaway roping to capture All Around Cowgirl honors for the event. She also finished by posting the fastest go in breakaway roping at 4.18 seconds.
Kim Medeiros was named to Reserve All Around Cowgirl honor after finishing first in the dally team roping where she served as heeler for Hunter Akita on a blistering 19.373 average on two attempts. Medeiros also posted a third finish in goat tying and fourth in the steer undecorating.
The next KAGRA rodeo will be held on April 15 at the Kealia Arena when the cowgirls celebrate the Grand Entry at 10 a.m. There is no charge to view the competition and food trucks will be present.
