Annaleigh Atkinson invites everyone to check out the MLK Day observance at the Lihue Neighborhood Center from 10 a.m. to noon (they’re having free lunch, too) to celebrate the diversity and harmony of the different cultures on the island.

Kudos to everyone for persevering in the face of the auto accidents and alerts to get events up and rolling … kudos to the organizers of the Kauai Regional Science Olympiad for accommodating the St. Catherine School kids who were stuck in the traffic (Ron Wiley was broadcasting from inside his Honda), and Melissa McFerrin-Warrack said the Hanalei Taro people came all the way from the North Shore. Elvrine Chow had to try twice to make it to the market, and Liz Hahn (is she going to be with the Kauai Voices at today’s celebration?) was flying on the cream cheese bagels … the Kauai Community Market flew with just two absent vendors.
