Eve Solomon was escorting “world-renowned Kenyan-British artist” Magdalene Anyango Namakhiya Odundo, the juror of the current galerie 103 exhibit through the maze of people (Helen Lacono is back!) at the Kauai Culinary Market Wednesday. Odundo was hosting a public lecture for Bruna Stude (what does Brolie do during lectures?) and Carol Yotsuda (she was running late) even had time to chat with Ada Koene before ascending to the galerie.
Meanwhile, another artist, David Flores, was doing live art (did they ever announce the title, Mel and Patsy Rapozo?) at the YWCA of Kauai candlelight vigil held for victims of domestic violence and sex assault. Kudos to Renee Hamilton and her YWCA ‘ohana on pulling this event together, and mahalo to Maureen Tabura and her Kauai Community College Nursing students for all the kokua.
The artists at Deja Vu put up their Halloween cutout already, and more artistic groups are needed to help put together the annual Waimea Haunted Village (who remembers when they started this at the former Waimea Dairy site?).
Laurie Yoshida was busy putting the dots on the i’s and crossing the t’s for the Harvest Festival coming up, Sunday at the Waimea Canyon Park (the Haunted Village goes up right after that) from 11 a.m. before disappearing into the Wednesday wind with Sue Kanoho.
