The Waimea High School girls volleyball team, Kauai Interscholastic Federation champions, is unseeded at the New City Nissan Hawaii High School Athletic Association, Division II girls volleyball state championships.
The announcement was made Sunday afternoon by the HHSAA, which seeded Le Jardin as the top seed in Division II. Waimea will open play Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Hana of the Maui Interscholastic League, the winner going on to face No. 4 Nanakuli on Thursday, starting at 5 p.m. at the St. Francis facility on Oahu.
The No. 2 seed goes to Seabury of the MIL, and Konawaena of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation is seeded No. 3.
Other teams in the Division II competition include Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Sacred Hearts, Pearl City, Damien, Hawaii Baptist Academy and Kohala.
Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama gets the No. 1 seed for Division I, followed by Moanalua earning the No. 2 seed. Kamehameha Schools-Maui is the No. 3 seed, and Waiakea of the BIIF gets the No. 4 seed.
Other teams involved in Division I play include Kekaulike, Mililani, Kapolei, Farrington, Hilo, Kahuku, Iolani and Waianae.
The championship for Division II will be held Saturday at 5 p.m., followed by the title match for Division I starting at 7 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Center on Oahu.
