Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. said he’s going to try that fried rice Kevin Chung was talking about, and Sarah Blane took advantage of the Island Gourmet Coffee to load up on coffee for the road, just like Lady Ipo Ferreira did for her lunch.
OK, we got the busy Martin Luther King weekend looking at us…Grace Delos Reyes of the Kauai RSVP is doing a school supplies drive at both the Times Supermarket and Kmart stores, Saturday (and next Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to benefit the Kumu’s Cupboard, and Gerald Ako is readying the HGEA masses for the annual MLK march (Saturday morning, too) and sign-waving campaign outside the Kukui Grove Center.
Don’t forget Mary Lardizabal and the Keiki Fest, which is a fundraiser for the Kapaa Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band, Saturday from noon at the Kauai Veterans Center (and you can come help with the Kauai Veterans Museum Sunday morning, too).
And there is the Kalawai Pinto baseball tournament kicking off Saturday and continuing through Monday at the Kalawai Park.
