When nature calls, you gotta go! Even in Hawaii!
And what better way to “pass” the time than having something really cool to read while you are waiting!
“The Hawaii Bathroom Book: Light Reading for the Lua, Airport, Bus, Waiting Room…”, by John Richard Stephens, is just that kind of book!
New printing in a smaller, one-hand-if-need size, “The Hawaii Bathroom Book” is packed full of amusing and interesting tidbits and trivia about this place we call home, and it has quickly become a regular seller in our bookstore. One of the main reasons why, we have found, is because this book covers loads of information about the Hawaiian islands, its history and its culture.
Really fun, actually, because there are things in there we had no idea about! For instance, did you know there are eight types of geckos in Hawaii, each being noticeably different than the next? Did you know that Kauai people saved Frank Sinatra from drowning… twice? Or that King Kalakaua was the first reigning monarch to travel all the way around the world? Or that the State of Hawaii is the biggest land owner in Hawaii? Or that President Franklin Roosevelt originally wanted the United Nations to be housed on Niihau, a place he considered “the most interesting and heavenly spot he knew on Earth”, even though he had never been there?
Yet, there is even more than just history in this handy little reader! There are also lots of famous Hawaiian phrases, lists of movies filmed in Hawaii, even interesting photographs of a variety of Hawaii-related matters!
So, even if reading in the bathroom isn’t your thing, “The Hawaii Bathroom Book” is a great read anywhere, at anytime, whether you were born and raised here, a long-time resident, or a visitor enjoying the islands!
