On the evening of November 17th, Sunday, 300 Episcopalians and their friends gathered together at All Saints’ Parish Hall, Kapaa, to honor their Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Harry S. Kennedy, and his wife, Katherine. It was truly a family affair
On the evening of November 17th, Sunday, 300 Episcopalians and their friends gathered together at All Saints’ Parish Hall, Kapaa, to honor their Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Harry S. Kennedy, and his wife, Katherine. It was truly a family affair because adults, young people and children came to celebrate this event of expressing their thanks to the Bishop and Mrs. Kennedy for their quarter century of service in these islands. Also, the dinner was prepared by the members of the six Episcopal churches on Kauai. Many people worked hard to make this a great success.
Victor and Mary Ann Punua presented a Hawaiian program, followed by a skit, “Reminiscing with the Bishop over the past 25 years of his episcopate”. Archdeacon Kaneshiro introduced the head table consisting of the Rev. Elsberry Reynolds and his wife, Sue, the Rev. Charles Hopkins and his wife, Millie, the Rev. Thomas Yoshida and his wife, Winona, the Archdeacon’s wife Myrtle, and Bishop and Mrs. Kennedy. Mrs. Julie Keppeler, Kauai vice-president of the Episcopal Church Women, presented a gift to the Kennedys from the Episcopal churches of Kauai.
After his retirement at the end of this year Bishop and Mrs. Kennedy will be living in Honolulu. They will be making trips, especially during the summer when they will return to their second home in Colorado.
