Silas Silva, 18 year old Omao youth, was killed shortly after noon Monday in an accidental discharge of a shotgun at the home of his friend Stanford Garcia, 19, of Hanamaulu. Police reported that young Garcia had taken the shotgun from a closet to clean it when it discharged, striking young Silva in the right chest as he sat in a chair in the Garcia living room.
The youth was distraught at the death of his friend, and told police he thought the weapon had been unloaded after a hunting trip. Young Silva was dead on arrival at the hospital after considerable wait for an ambulance.
