Yoshio “Yoshi” Takekuma of Numila, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 14, 2000, at the age of 75. Born Oct. 26, 1924, in Kukuiula, Kaua’i, he was a retired groundskeeper with the State of Hawai’i.
He is survived by his wife: Yuriko Takekuma of Numila, Kaua’i; three sons: Bruce (Kathleen) Takekuma of Kalaheo, Clyde (Kay) Takekuma of Kapa’a, and Andy (Lesa) Takekuma of Pearl City, O’ahu; one daughter: Karen (Kenneth) Villabrille of Kapa’a; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three sisters: Kiyome Iwamoto of ‘Ele’ele, Chiyono (Iwao) Sukisaki of ‘Ele’ele, and Mary (Thomas) Kurihara of Los Angeles, Calif., numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service has been scheduled at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, at the Kaua’i Zen Shuji Temple in Hanapepe with Rev. Itagaki officiating. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd..
