Curnan.
The former Kapa’a High School football player, who is in his second
year playing for the St. Louis Crusaders, was named the Defensive Player of the
Year in the Honolulu Advertiser’s All-State Football team.
Curnan, a junior
linebacker had 141 tackles and helped lead the Crusaders to the Chevron State
High School Football Championship.
St. Louis defensive back Enoch McKeague,
who is also a Kaua’i resident, was also picked to the All-State
team.
Kobayashi: Coach of Year
HONOLULU – Waimea High School
football head coach Jon Kobayashi was named as co-Coach of the Year in the
Honolulu Advertiser’s All-State Football Team.
Kobayashi was chosen along
with Baldwin High School’s Joe Balangitao.
Both Waimea and Baldwin advanced
to the semifinals of the state tournament.
Several Waimea players were
given All-State honorable mention, including kicker and defensive lineman
Donovan Agan, running back Jessie Sablan, defensive lineman David Hanashiro,
linebacker Brandon Perreira and defensive back Colby Octavio.
Kapa’a
linebacker Allen Mundon was also an All-State honorable
mention.
V-ballers get state mention
HONOLULU – Three Kaua’i
Interscholastic Federation volleyball players were given honorable mention in
the Honolulu Advertiser’s All-State team.
Kaua’i High School’s Brad
Lum-Tucker was a boys team honorable mention, while Waimea’s Charis Castillo
and Ashley Hori were girls team honorable mentions.
The Kaua’i boys and
Waimea girls volleyball teams were KIF champions this year.
