Mauricio Laiz of Kaumakani, Kaua’i, died at Kaua’i Veterans Memorial
Hospital on April 22, 2000, at the age of 87.
Born in Santo Tomas, Candon
Ilocos Sur, Philippines on Nov. 3, 1912, he was a retired Laborer with Olokele
Sugar Co.
He is survived by: his wife Priscilla Laiz of Kaumakani, Kauai;
one son: Maurice Laiz of Kaumakani, Kauai; one daughter Jocelyn of Honolulu,
Oahu; one grandson: Drake; three sisters: Consolation Galleto, Beatrice
Opena, and Vicky Ramos, all of the Philippines; two brothers: Espiritu Laiz and
Florintino Laiz, both of the Philippines; numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April
29, 2000 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service to begin at 10 a.m.
Followed by burial at the Hanapepe Public cemetery. Casual attire is
suggested.

Mitzie Mitsuko Oshiro Kamiya of Honolulu died
Monday, April 24, 2000, at Kuakini Medical Center at the age of 79.
Born
March 27, 1921, in Anahola, Kaua’i, she was a retired, self-employed beautician
dba: Starlet Beauty Salon.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond H.
(Barbara) Kamiya, Jr., Don M. (Kyong Uu) Kamiya and Owen K. (Sandra) Kamiya;
daughter, Amy (Milton) Fujita; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild;
brothers, Henry M. (Ruth) Kaneshiro and Kazuo (Louise) Kaneshiro; sisters,
Grace Skelton, Daisy Christmas, Ethel Swann and Elaine
Edmondson.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at Hosoi
Garden Mortuary on O’ahu, with funeral service at 4 p.m.
The family
suggests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.

Donald Pereira of
Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Kaua’i, died April24, 2000, in Phoenix, at the
age of 66.
The former business office manager at Wilcox Memorial Hospital
and Purchasing Agent for the Kauai Surf Hotel, he was born Nov. 1, 1933, in
Lihue.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Pereira of Phoenix, Ariz.; three
sons: Mark Pereira of San Diego, Calif., Eric Pereira of Phoenix, Ariz., and
Scott Pereira of Glendale, Ariz., one brother, Adam Pereira of Kaua’i; and four
grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 26, at Lundberg
Mortuary White Rose Chapel in Glendale, Ariz.. Services will again be held
Thursday, April 27, at 1 p.m. Lundberg Mortuary White Rose Chapel.
