KAPA’A — Several vendors and entertainers have already signed up to participate in a huge, open-air, weekend market, the Kaua’i Products Fair, which has its grand opening along Kuhio Highway near the Kapa’a Fish & Chowder House here this Saturday, July 8.
Organizers have a database of 300 potential vendors, and the prime spaces are already going fast, said Dore Jean, fair coordinator and spokesperson.
The fair offers up to 100 vendors the opportunity to market and sell their products, and informational packets have been sent out to many of the island’s known crafters.
Those interested in selling jewelry, crafts, arts, fresh produce, tropical plants and flowers, gifts, collectibles, aloha wear, island food and services such as massages at the event, which will run each Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., should call 246-0988 for more information and to reserve space.
Nonprofit organizations wishing to raise funds and awareness of their services will also be offered booth space.
The fair will be aggressively marketed in visitor publications to the average of 18,000 daily visitors who stay on Kaua’i an average of seven days.
“By providing this weekly fair, Kaua’i’s visiting tourists will be introduced to and get a feel for Kaua’i’s island culture,” Jean said.
“Visitors will interact with Kaua’i’s island residents and get a feel for Kaua’i’s rural lifestyle. The aloha spirit combined with Kaua’i’s unique diversified products will give the visitor a real South Pacific experience,” she added.
