The Kaua’i Historical Society is pleased to endorse the work of the Art Angel
Project – Art Restoration, St. Catherine Parish, Kaua’i in its efforts to
restore, document and preserve the original work of art located in three
separate church buildings in different Kaua’i communities.
We support their
concerted efforts to inform and educate our Kaua’i community and the wider
public about this legacy of art donated by the artists: Jean Charlot, Juliette
Mae Fraser and Tseng YuHo (Bette Ecke) and the value of maintaining them for
future generations.
We do this in the knowledge that the Art Angel
Committee will share with our Society any appropriate material researched and
collected including photographic any video documentation as well as any oral
history obtained by the close of this project. We are happy to endorse the work
because it so closely parallels our own purpose as seen in our mission
statement:
“Our mission is to collect, preserve and disseminate the oral,
written and pictorial history of Kaua’i County, to protect and preserve
historic sites, and to educate ourselves and the public about the history and
cultures of Kaua’i and Ni’ihau.”
We applaud their quality of commitment,
continuing research, selection of art conservator and pursuit of grass roots
support.
