Jesse Thompson, of Eugene, Ore.; her mother, Violet Strom of Lawai; three
brothers: Russell (Joyce) Strom of Southlake Tahoe, Roy (Carol E.) Strom of
Kapa’a, Hugh (Vicki) Strom of Kalaheo and one sister Vianne (Lyle) Tabata of
Lihu’e and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at Oak
Hill cemetery in Eugene on Aug. 29.

Tsuyu Miyakado
of Honolulu died Aug. 22, 2000, at the age of 86.
Born in Koloa, Kaua’i on
Oct. 1,1913, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons Allen (Karen)
Miyakado of Honolulu and Melvin (Ondria) Miyakado of California; daughter, Jane
(Richard) Higa and Elaine (Michael) Naito, both of Honolulu; six grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren; brothers, Kuichi Okumura and Robert (Grace) Okumura,
both of Honolulu; and sisters, Kishiye Wakuta of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; Joyce Tashima
of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Satsuki Moriwake of Hanapepe Heights, Kaua’i, Yukiko Okumura
and Rose Hackbarth, both of Honolulu and Nanako Taguma of Kalaheo.
Private
services were held. Hosoi Garden Mortuary handled arrangements.
Leland
“Lee” Cook
Leland Arnot “Lee” Cook of Naples Fl., 82, a
photographer, writer and lecturer died on Sept. 4, 2000 at the Hospice House in
Naples. Cook served as advertising photographer for Tiffany & Co. in
Manhattan, N.Y. for 27 years; his work included photography for the well-known
annual Tiffany gift catalog. He applied his skills in photographing jewelry to
capturing the beauty of Ni’ihau shell leis for the University of Hawai’i Press
book of the same name, and photographed significant stained glass windows
throughout the Hawaiian Islands.
Cook was born in Pocatello, Idaho and
graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Ca. in 1949.
In 1984, Brooks awarded him an honorary Masters Degree in Photography. Cook had
been the photographic consultant for the Stained Glass Association of America
for many years.
Cook is survived by his wife Sunny of Naples; his son and
daughter-in-law, Chris and Evelyn Cook of Kapahi, and their sons Christian and
David; and by his daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Richard Colette, and
their daughter Chiara, of Jakarta, Indonesia. In lieu of flowers, please send
