state.
Results of the tournament follow. Spencer Choy cruised through the
boys’ 10-and-under division with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Micah
Jobe.
Top-seeded Austin Nakatsuka won the boys’ 12-and-under 6-2, 6-1 over
Aaron Tada.
Honolulu’s Chris Iwamura battled through a tough draw to get by
Michael Azuma in the boys’ 14-and-under. Lihu’e’s Jordan Kukino
participated.
Kapa’a’s Charles Roessler fought from the fourth-seeded
position to defeat Jonathan Farm in the final of the boys’ 16-and-under
division.
Kesson Yamamoto was the island’s only representative in the
18-and-under division, but it was Ikaika Jobe emerging victorious from the
draw.
In doubles action, Spencer Choy and Brennan Yamamoto won the
10-and-under. Jonathan Farm and Chris Iwamura, both of Honolulu won the
14-and-under doubles. Michael Lim and Mark Ilagan took the 16-and-unders.
Ikaika and Sean Jobe battled for the 18-and-under victory.
The girls also
battled. Their results follow.
Koloa’s own Alex Sirois swept through Sarah
Emerson 6-4, 6-1 in the 12-and-under division.
No local participants were
included in the 14-and-unders, but Honolulu’s Jessica Broadfoot took the title
6-4, 7-5 over Kelly Ann Nakamura.
Lihu’e’s Kareen Konishi fell 6-2, 6-3 to
Honolulu’s Julienne Yamamoto in the 16-and-under division.
Sirois
participated in 14-and-under doubles, but her team could not pull out the win.
Rusti Fuisaki and Crystal Shimbukuro did that.
In 16-and-under doubles, the
Lihu’e team of Konishi and Tiana Lum-Tucker won 6-0, 7-6 (5) over Broadfoot and
Yamamoto. Locals Rena Kido and Amy Surratt also participated.
Kido and
Surratt were able to win 18-and-under doubles 7-6 (5), 6-2 over Julian Shindo
and Kristen Tremaine.
