LIHU’E — Jeff Mira, the new branch manager of Honsador Lumber here, is all
smiles these days.
Not only will he gladly leave bachelorhood behind next
month, but with a robust construction industry on the island, Honsador is doing
a brisk business in spite of its out-of-the-way location.

Ray Ellis and his staff of six are busy filling orders for lumber, drywall,
concrete brick and other items for both residential and commercial projects on
the island.
There is lots of construction taking place, Mira observes, with
new homes, new commercial construction, and lots of people remodeling, adding
garages, or otherwise adding value and convenience to their homes.
People
are making more money, so are spending money on home and business improvements,
he said.
“Business is booming,” and Honsador, one of Hawai’i’s leading
building material supply source, with facilities, equipment and product service
expertise on all the islands, is seeing its share of increase as well, he
said.
Besides the Lihu’e location along Ninini Point Street (access it off
of Kapule Highway opposite Vidinha Stadium — kindly stop and inform the
security guard that Honsador is your destination), Honsador provides lumber,
building materials, technical services, logistics support and bonding to the
building industry through its outlets at Kapolei on O’ahu, Kahului on Maui, and
Hilo and Kona on the Big Island.
Mira, born and raised on Kaua’i, spent 12
years in the U.S. Air Force, returning to Kaua’i in 1986. He held a number of
positions in the building industry before joining Honsador, and holds a
bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Maryland.
“Jeff
Mira is an experienced and skilled building materials manager whose focus will
be on serving Kaua’i’s building industry through support from the company’s
Lihu’e, Honolulu and Pacific Northwest facilities,” said Terry Inglett,
Honsador president.
Mira replaces Garrett Miyake, who has relocated to
Honolulu to pursue a new business opportunity.
Mira next month will marry
fiancé Lisa Patterson, owner and manager of Margaritas bar and
restaurant along Kuhio Highway in Waipouli.
He lives in Wailua Homesteads,
and is a freelance musician in his spare time. Currently, he plays at
Stephenson’s Library at the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa in Po’ipu, and
at Margaritas.
Among those he occasionally jams with, two have recently
released their own CDs: Shilo Pa and Tommy Tokioka.
