Today, I heard on the radio news that a DC-9 Hawaiian Airlines aircraft had
made such a hard landing that the tail of the plane slammed and scraped on the
runway in Lihu’e. A few people were hurt during the landing.
The airline,
National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration
are all trying to cover up the fact that there are a pair of pilots flying for
Hawaiian Airlines that put their own pilots’ papers and reputation ahead of the
safety of the passengers. At least three more flights were flown after they
slammed the tail of their plane without making an inspection of their
aircraft.
I fly over 60,000 miles per year on Hawaiian Airlines, and I
can’t believe that Hawaiian would have two pilots on board that risk the lives
of over 300 passengers by flying a damaged aircraft another three round trips.
Pilots can make mistakes, but flying a damaged aircraft is inexcusable and I
still can’t believe that it happened.
These clowns are putting the
reputation of Hawaiian Airlines on play, and the airline should take note. I
call this intent to cover up by the pilots on board in order to save a bad mark
against the pilots’ papers at the risk of their trusting passengers’
lives.
