Edward WatanabeEdward “Eddie” Watanabe, of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at home
on Nov. 6, 2000, at the age of 91. Born in Mana, Kaua’i on Jan. 21, 1909, he
was a retired business owner of Kauai Chemical Products, he is survived by: his
wife: Tomoke Watanabe of Lihue, Kauai; son: Steven (Janet) Watanabe of Diamond
Bar, Calif.; three daughters: Shirley (Wilson) Hashimoto of Garden Grove,
Calif., Ann (Richard) Ogata of Hanapepe, Kaua’i and Kay (Clifford) Kano of
Gardena, Calif.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Service
were private. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary,
Ltd.
Yukino Shimada
Yukino Shimada of Waimea, Kaua’i, died Nov.
15, 2000, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.
A homemaker, she
was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Waimea, Kaua’i.
She is survived by two
daughters: Avis Shimada of Waimea and Lorna (Eugene) Santos of Puhi; one son:
Bruce Shimada of waimea; one brother: Toshiaki (Sumako) Fukumoto fo Kekaha and
one granddaughter: Sherri Kawachi; several nieces and nephews.
Services
were held on Monday, Nov. 20 ,at Waimea. Borthwick/Kaua’i.
Francisco
Alejo
Francisco “Socks” Alejo of Kilauea, Kaua’i, died Nov. 20, 2000, at
Wilcox Memorial Hospital, at the age of 82.
A van driver with the County o
f Kaua’i, he also worked as a crane operator with the sugar industry for
Kilauea Plantation.
He is survived by seven daughters: Veronica Sanchez of
Kapa’a, Nona Sheldon of Kilauea, Lorraine (Joseph) Rapozo of Anahola, Marie
Alejo of Kapa’a, Ruby (Larry) Tsukamoto of Kapa’a, Diane (Danny) Genegabuas of
Kapa’a and Beverly (Philip) Boiser of Kapa’a; two nieces, Sally (Harry) Gayagas
of Kapa’a and Elsie (Richard) Laraba of California; numerous grandchildren,
great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitaiton is scheduled for
Wednesday, Nov. 22, at St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church in Kilauea at 1:30 p.m.
Mass to be celebrated at 3 p.m. burial to follow at the Japanese Cemetery in
Kilauea.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by
Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
