retired roofer, he leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Laurinda Leiaulani Cano
of Kekaha, Kaua’i, and his six children: Francine Leiaulani (Randy) Oligo,
Kekaha, Kaua’i, Frank Palani (Judy) Cano III, Hanapepe, Kaua’i, Franchot
Kailiokekaiokalani (Pamai) Cano, Hanapepe, Kaua’i, Francisco Maunalani (Pomai)
Cano, Kekaha, Kaua’i, Francella Napua (Lloyd) Rita, Kalaheo, Kaua’i and
Francford Kinonui (Lana) Cano, Waimea, Kaua’i; eight grandchildren: Clesson
“Kaliko” (Kalikominoakalani) Oligo, Randi Lee “Noe” (Noelanionamaunaokanani)
Oligo, Jade Lehua Cano, Bradley Kekua Cano, Thomas Kekainalu Cano-Clementino,
Savannah Makanaokealohalani Cano, Samuel Maunalani Cano, Amanda Makauilani
Rita.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Kuamoo Wright, Honolulu, HI; also
his brothers and sisters: Rhoda Anderson, Patricia Mceney, and Jeanette Loomis,
all of Portland, Ore., Alexander Gaspar, Dolores Manuel and Donna Mae Gaspar,
all of Honolulu, and Reginald Cano, of Portland, Ore.
He is pre-deceased by
his two sisters: Cinderella Davis and Myrna Kaulia.
He also leaves behind
numerous aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral
arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary and funeral services
are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. and memorial service talk
starting at 12:00 p.m. at Garden Island Mortuary, Kaumualii Hwy., Lawai,
Kaua’i.
Casual attire is suggested. Flowers are welcome.
Leslie Frank Furtado Sr.
Leslie Frank Furtado Sr. of Wailuku, Maui,
died on Dec. 5, 2000, at Maui Memorial Medical Center at the age of 55.
A
Catholic by faith, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was born April 7, 1945, Waimea, Kaua’i.
He is survived by his two sons:
Alexander (Tanya) Furtado of Washington, Leslie (Alicia) Furtado Jr. of
Wailuku; two daughters: Trinette (Matthew Gillman) Furtado of Oahu, Lisa
(Robert) Guy of Hilo; four brothers: Dennis Furtado of Utah; Mario Cabrera of
Kahului; Donato Cabrera of Kahului, Clyde Cabrera of Utah; two sisters: Irene
Laborte of Lahaina, and Laurinda Makahanaloa of Lahaina; 6 grandchildren.
Private family services were held. His cremains will be scattered on
Kaua’i.
Hereford Stuerke
Hereford Arnold Stuerke of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died on
Dec. 4, 2000, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 70.
A retired
electrical engineer for Lockheed Aircraft. He was born in California on Sept.
7, 1930.
He is survived by his three sons: Loren (Virginia) Stuerke of
California; Bob (Sylvia) Stuerke of Tennessee; Kurt (Anne) Stuerke of
California; two daughters: Heidi (Sherman) Merger of Missouri, Kimberly
Stuerke of California; two sisters: Bunny Dubas of Florida; Karyn (Kerry)
Darling of California; and six grandchildren.
Private services are being
held. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
Harold Ching
Harold Ching of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died on Dec. 3, 2000
at Queen’s Medical Center at the age of 90.
A retired reporter and
columnist for the publishing industry for The Garden Island Paper and Star
Bulletin News Paper. He was born in Hawai’i, on June 11, 1910.
He is
survived by his wife: Lillian L. Ching of Hanama’ulu; one brother: Dr. Edward
T. Ching of California; one sister: Constance C. (Frederick) Chu of Kapa’a,
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and families may call on
Friday, Dec. 15, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary chapel in Koloa, from 10 a.m.
Services to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kaua’i Memorial
Gardens.
The family asks that flowers be omitted. Those who wish may
contribute to their favorite charity in his name. Arrangements are being
handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
