Over 75 racers entered the Kaua’i Motocross Association’s first official event. The organization has taken over operations from the The Garden Island Racing Association. The new club is committed to promoting a cleaner, more wholesome atmosphere designed to reach the children of the island, according to KMA secretary Nadine Rapozo.
Since taking over in February, the KMA has more than tripled its membership to 115 and “is constantly open to new members,” Rapozo said.
“We are encouraging the community to come down and visit us at the track,” she said.
Currently, the KMA is racing at the Wailua track, next to the Wailua Golf Course. However, the organization is in the process of paving out new ground near Wailua Falls for a new track.
“We’re excited about the things we’re doing,” Rapozo said.
