The Koloa Pop Warner Association will begin 2001 season registration sign-ups at Koloa Park for its flag and tackle football squads, as well as cheer, during the following dates and times:
n May 1-3 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
n May 8-10 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Flag squads will consist of two divisions: Cubs, for children 5 to 7 years of age; Bobcat, for children 8 to 10 years of age. The age cut-off date is April 30, 2001.
All flag players are required to bring copies of their birth certificate, medical insurance card and a current physical examination form to registration. A fee will be assessed along with the registration form. The first day of practice will be May 15. Games will begin in June.
The tackle and cheer squads will consist of three divisions: Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee and Midget, from 8 years of age through 15. The age cut-off date here is July 31, 2001. Practice will begin in August.
Cheer squads may register until June 15.
Interested participants should bring a copy of their birth certificate, a current report card, physical examination and physicians medical release form to registration.

Thursday: KIF girls’ basketball, Kapa’a at Waimea, between 6:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. start
Saturday: The Kentucky Derby, 11:30 a.m.; San Francisco Giants at Philadelphia Phillies, 1:05 p.m.
Sunday: Oakland A’s at Boston Red Sox, 2 p.m.
Age group track meet this Saturday
The County of Kaua’i Parks & Recreation Division will be coordinating the Westside Age Group Track Meet Saturday, May 5, at Vidinha Stadium. The event includes kids at schools from Koloa to Kekaha.
Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Events will begin at 1:30 p.m. Age group divisions will include: 7-below, 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 years old, both boys and girls. Age determination as of December 31, 2000.
Each participant can enter three individual events and run on one relay team. Here are the events that will be offered: Standing broad jump, softball throw, 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and 400-meter relay.
