Stuart McKenzie of New Zealand thrilled polo fans in the July 15 matches as he donned the jersey of the Bali Hai and dominated the first chukker with two scores enroute to Bali Hai taking a 7-3 match over Kaua’i Polo Club.
Linda Gallagher of the Kaua’i Polo Club took over in the second chukker, and with superb stick work and tactical support from John Elwin, got Kaua’i on the scoreboard.
But, McKenzie was not to be denied as he chalked up another pair of scores in the chukker.
Scoring in the third chukker, McKenzie continued to mark up the scoreboard, taking a penalty shot for another mark before Peter Cameron of the Kaua’i Polo Club set up a scoring opportunity for Gallagher.
With seconds remaining in the game, Cameron weaved through traffic for a final score, but the effort fell short as Caldwell Banker/Bali Hai prevailed 7-3 over Kaua’i.
Polo continues on Sunday at Anini Field beginning at 3 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. For more information call 828-0273
