Sign-up for the Waimea High School girls varsity softball team will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Kaumakani Ball Park.

Another rodeo promises excitement
Kaua’i Rodeo Club will be holding its fourth of sixth series events on August 19, at the CJM Country Stables in Poipu. The rodeo will run from 9 a.m. to nearly 3:30 p.m.
Events include dally team roping, barrel racing, pole bending, poowaiu and more. A food booth will be available for lunch and drinks.
The event is sponsored by the Hawai’i Tourism Authority, the Kaua’i Economic Development Board and the Hawai’i Economic Development Board.

Girls basketball tourney results
The County of Kaua’i’s girls 14-and-under basketball tournament began Thursday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
In the opening game, Lihu’e Run ‘N Gun beat the Kaumakani Supersonics 23-14. A team from Maui was to play in the evening’s second game against another team from Kaua’i, however the Maui squad was delayed.
There were two more games Friday night.

Lihu’e Pop Warner general meeting
Lihu’e Pop Warner will hold a general membership meeting on Thursday, August 16 at 6:30 p.m. at HGEA Hall at 3213 Akahi St. in Lihu’e.
All members are urged to attend, as 2001 season fund-raising will be discussed along with the county fair.
