Jose DePeralta Saraos of Kaumakani, Kaua’i, died Sept. 25, 2001, at ‘Oma’o Nursing Home at the age of 90.
A truck driver with Olokele Sugar for 35 years, he was born Dec. 4, 1910, in the Philippines.
He is survived by three sons: Clarence (Sally) Saraos of California, Stanley (Rebecca) Saraos of Lihu’e, and Allen (Rosemary) Saraos of Waipahu; one daughter: Eileen (Leo) Rodrigues of Waipahu; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel from 9 a.m. Services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Pastor Phil Marocco. Burial to follow at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Esther Harrison Robinson
Esther Harrison Robinson, of Kaua’i, died on Oct. 1, 2001 at the Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital, at the age of 97.
Born on April 24, 1904 in Honolulu, Oahu, Mrs. Robinson graduated from Normal School on Oahu in 1927 and started teaching at Hanalei School. In 1930, she moved to Kekaha and taught at Waimea High and Elementary School. She retired as the Vice-Principal in 1966. She started the Kindergardens on Kaua’i and organized the Girl Scouts on Kaua’i.
She was pre-deceased by her husband: Edward K. Robinson, retired manager of Waimea Branch, First Hawaiian Bank. She is survived by nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
Private services were held. Donations in her memory maybe made to: Kaua’i Hospice, P.O. Box 3286, Lihu’e, HI 96766.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
Louise Coronel
Louise Momi Poepoe Coronel of Lihu’e, formerly of Waianae, O’ahu, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 20, 2001.
Born in Ulupalakua, Maui on March 11, 1932, she was 69 years old at the time of her death.
A homemaker, she is survived by sons: David (Connie) Coronel of Waianae, Paul (Michelle) Coronel of Waianae, George (Nani) Coronel of Kona, Big Island, and Tony (Catherine) Coronel of Hanamaulu, and daughters: Penny (Jack) Cawlthron) of Tennessee and Linda (Sheldon) Camacho of Kapa’a. There are 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one aunt and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 9 a.m. at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Services officiated by Kahu Kamanu will begin at 11 a.m., followed by burial at the Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.
