Kaua’i’s boy’s and girl’s cross country swept the KIF championships yesterday, taking both crowns in some downright intense finishes at the Island School course. For the girls (2 miles), it was Kapa’a’s Sharlene Carillo who edged out Kaua’i’s Shauna Tachibana
Kaua’i’s boy’s and girl’s cross country swept the KIF championships yesterday, taking both crowns in some downright intense finishes at the Island School course.
For the girls (2 miles), it was Kapa’a’s Sharlene Carillo who edged out Kaua’i’s Shauna Tachibana in the two mile race.
These two girls have been battling all season long. The two will be the KIF’s most promising competitors come states, which will take place here on Kaua’i.
Kapa’a took second in the girl’s cross country championships by a margin of less than two points, and Waimea took third.
For the boys (3 miles), Island School’s Mario Rosa led most of before he was eventually passed at the races finale by Kaua’i’s Cody Kimura.
Like the girls, these two have been neck-and-neck all season long. They two will be top contenders at states.
Waimea took second place behind the Red Raiders in the KIF championships. Kapa’a came in third.
