Overlooking the backdrop of breaching whales and lush green valleys, a total of 260 off-road motorcyclists, quads and mountain bikers participated in the 2002 President’s Day Poker Run sponsored by Kaua’i’s Off-Road Riders at Port Allen last Sunday.
Revving up to claim the top position in the A/B Division was Russell Andrade.
He was trailed by Evan Agor, Ronald Baretto Jr., Eric Hadama, Tommy Martins Sr. and Barry Simmons (in that order).
Cody Divan came in first for the C Division.
Mark Jones notched the second spot; Jack Locicero the third; Jeff Gallardo the fourth; Garret Burrell the fifth; and Kalei Souza the sixth in the fifteen-person event.
Claiming the victory for the Quad was Craig Carney, trailed by Ken Galon.
Paris Racca, Dan Urwiler and Kevin Luis (in that order) rounded out the top five for the Quads.
In the Keiki Division, Kevin Alapai took the Gold with Kody Pegador nipping his heels at second.
Chaz Davin notched third; Tyler Kinnaman came in fourth; Puna Gallardo notched fifth and Kyle Ruiz came in sixth in the 15-person field.
Eric Lutz pedaled to the victory in the Mountain Bike Division.
He was followed by Randy Aardema, Lois Lutz, Greg Fleming and Craig Sogi.
