Pedro Papagayo
Pedro Papagayo of Kapaa, Kauai, died at his residence on Jan. 15, 2003, at the age of 92.
Born in the Philippines on Oct. 24, 1910, he was a welder for Lihue Plantation for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Papagayo of Kapaa; son, Philip (Bennita) Papagayo of Kapaa, 4 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Jan. 27, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at St. Catherines Church in Kapaa from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Bruce. Burial to follow at St. Catherines Church Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Fernando Fontanilla
Fernando Galiza Fontanilla of Hanamaulu, Kauai, died at his residence on Jan. 20, 2003, at the age of 93.
Born in the Philippines on May 25, 1909, he was a retired tractor driver for Lihue Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Zorayda Fontanilla of Hanamaulu; two daughters, Linda (Dennis) Williams of Kapaa, Beverly Fontanilla of Maui; two brothers: Celerino (Pauline) Fontanilla and Cirilo (Lucricia) Fontanilla both of the Philippines, 4 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Jan. 27, at the Kapaa First Hawaiian Church from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

Patricia Duarte
Patricia “Patsy” Duarte of Kalaheo, Kauai, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Jan. 17, 2003 at the age of 62.
Born in Honolulu, Oahu on Nov. 14, 1940, she was an independent social worker.
She is survived by husband Ronald “Skippy” Duarte; three sons, Ronald (Marleen) Duarte, Jr. of Kalaheo, Caesar (Vanessa) Duarte of Kalaheo and Ryan Duarte of Maui; three daughters, Elizabeth Duarte of Kalaheo, Pernella (Jesse Sr.) Soares of Kalaheo and Editha (Edie) Arrocena of Eleele; four brothers, James Reyes of Texas, Michael “Sonny” Reyes of CA., Edward “Eddie” Reyes of Oahu and Patricio “Boy” (Rena) Agoto of Makaweli; five sisters, Cecilia Vidinha of Puhi, Rosalinda (John) West of Colorado, Cynthia (Manuel) Brun of Hilo, Sharon (Clarence) Corpuz of Hanamaulu and Shandra (Tev) Goldsman of Kapaa; mother-in-law, Rosalina Duarte of Omao; brother-in-law, Donald (Betty) Duarte of Anahola; She is preceded in death by her mother, Hilda (Patricio) Agoto Sr.; father, Felicisimo Reyes; father-in-law, Caesar Duarte; son, Darrick Duarte; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; Also surviving are four uncles: Albert (Madeline) Gomes, Henry Gomes, Lou Malama-Gomes and William Salas. There are numerous aunts nieces nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Holy Cross Catholic Church; mass officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 11:30 a.m. Followed by burial at Hanapepe Public cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Thomas Quiocho
Thomas R.E. “Boxer” Quiocho of Makaweli, Kauai, died at West Kauai Medical Center-KVMH on Jan. 16, 2003, at the age of 69.
Born in Makaweli, Kauai, on Oct. 1, 1933, he worked for Gay & Robinson for 44 years at many different positions and retired as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife: Loretta of Pakala, and three children: Darryl (Melba) Quiocho of Hilo, Tanya Quiocho of Hanapepe, and Tita Anne (Shelley) Aguinaldo of Eleele Nani; step mother: Leau Quiocho of California; two brothers: Wilfred Quiocho of California; Ernest Quiocho of California; three sisters: Yolanda Canancia of Honolulu; Francis Quiocho of Honolulu; Angie Ili of California; grandchildren, Niki Quiocho & Chase Quiocho of Honolulu, Deric Aguinaldo & D’anne Aguinaldo of Eleele, Luke Tsuchiya & Steve Tsuchiya of Hanapepe and great-grandaughter Syani Chandler-Aguinaldo of Eleele, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
