LIHU`E — Baseball action continued at the Vidinha Stadium diamond Sunday as teams from the Americans of Japanese Ancestry league concluded their second weekend of play.
Kapa`a 10, Lihu`e 4
Outfielder Ikaika Pezario had a perfect day at the plate (4-4, double, 2 stolen bases, walk, 5 RBIs, and 3 runs scored) to lead Kapa`a back from a 3-0 deficit heading into the fourth inning.
Owen Koishigawa picked up the win for Kapa`a in relief of starter Kainoa Pezario while Cardinez and Kawamura split time on the hill for Lihu`e.
Silva (2-3, 3 runs) also paired hits for the victors and teammate Alan Mundon drove in 3 runs.
S. Sadamitsu and Kawamura paired singles in a losing effort.
Hanapepe 17, Makaweli 11
The Rivermen pounded out 11 hits and took full advantage of 14 walks, 3 hit batters, and 3 Indian errors in the three-hour marathon.
The wild offensive slugfest found the scoreboard knotted at 10-10 after 6-1/2 innings of play before Hanapepe erupted for 7 runs in the home half of the seventh to pull out the win.
Eight pitchers were utilized in the contest with Wendall Nonaka (Hanapepe) and Mike Shimatsu (Makaweli) getting the start for their respective teams.
Maeda led the Rivermen offensive attack with a pair of triples and 5 RBIs. Nitta and W. Nonaka also paired hits for the victors while teammates Lincoln and Leroy Nonaka (1-1, home run, walk) each accounted for 2 RBIs.
Sean Jardin (4-5, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Royce Ijima (3-5, double, walk, run, RBI), Trent Shimabukuro (2-3, run), Ray Shirai (2-2, run, RBI), and Issac Castillo (triple, run, RBI) stood out offensively for the Indians.
