Moises Y. Guerrero of Kapa’a, died in the Philippines on Feb. 3, 2003, at the age of 87.
Born in the Philippines on Feb. 22, 1915, he was a farmer.
He is survived by his five sons: Fredelito (Edna) Guerrero of Kapa’a, Edgardo (Vicky) Guerrero of the Philippines, Jesus (Pina) Guerrero of the Philippines, Ludivico (Lourgena) Guerrero of the Philippines, Lito Guerrero of the Philippines; three daughters: Rosalinda “Sally” (Domi) Agayan of Kapa’a, Carmelita (Tony) Ong of the Philippines, Amy (Joe) Idica of the Philippines; sister: Olympia (Moises) Agdeppa of the Philippines, 26 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in the Philippines.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
William Ching
William “Willy” Ioela Ching of Kapa’a, died at home on Feb. 6, 2003 at the age of 58.
Born in Lihu’e, on Oct. 21, 1944, he was an assistant power plant operator with AMFAC Sugar-Lihue Plantation, and worked as a shuttle driver at Sheraton Princeville Hotel.
He is survived by his wife, Doriann Garan Ching; son, Wesley Dale Ching of Honolulu, O’ahu; two daughters, Myra Lee Ching-Remitio of Lihu’e, and Dana Ching of Kapa’a; mother, Ruth Aki Ching; two brothers, Francis K.W. Ching of Honolulu, O’ahu and Thomas Ching of Wailua Homesteads; two sisters, Rowena Low of Honolulu and Sheilah Ching of Po’ipu; mother-in-law: Amelia Poli of Honolulu; three sisters-in-law: Shirley (Bert) Crowder, Josephine Koga, Bette Lee Poli, all of Honolulu; four brothers-in-law: Herman Garan, Gaylen (Sally) Garan, both of Honolulu; Baron Garan of San Diego, Calif.; Elmer Garan of Sacramento, Calif.; predeceased by brother-in-law: Benedict “Benny” (Ok-hui) Garan of Honolulu; 6 grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa’a; Mass officiated by Father Vince will begin at 11 a.m. Followed by burial at the Church cemetery. Aloha attire is suggested.
Benedict Garan Sr.
Benedict Simon Garan Sr. of Honolulu, died on Jan. 28, 2003 at the age of 59.
Born in Waimea, on Sept. 26, 1943, he was a Merchant Seaman at Young Brothers and a member of the Inland Boatman Union of the Pacific.
He is survived by his wife: Ok Hui Garan; son, Benedict Garan, Jr.; mother, Amelia Poli; brothers, Herman Garan, Gaylen (Sally) Garan, Baron Garan and Elmer Garan; sisters: Josephine Koga, Shirley (Bertram Sr.) Crowder, Doriann (William) Ching and Bette-Lee Poli.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 15, 9 a.m. at the Nuuanu Mortuary, West Chapel. Services begins at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at 2 p.m. at the Valley of the Temples. Casual attire is suggested.
