Waylon Brun, lays down a quick noose in the Keiki Roping competition during the last Keiki and High School Rodeo event of the current season.
The high school rodeo was held Sunday at the CJM Country Stables in the Poipu Beach area.
Brun was moved into the rerun group when a dispute between arena officials arose on this catch of a calf. However, the young rodeo competitor came up empty on the rerun with Damien DeCosta taking the event.
Julianna Bourcher, top right, and Sumiko Falque react as their calf proves to be a little uncooperative in the Keiki Mugging event at the Keiki and High School rodeo held Sunday. The pair ended with a no time for this event that was won by the team of Chaz Rita and Kristyn Vasconcelles on a time of 15.55.
The Kauai Keiki and High School Rodeo Association (KKHSRA) was founded in 1988. The mission of this organization is to perpetuate the art and skill of the Hawaiian Paniolo and to teach the youth to rodeo in a safe and fun environment as well as provide the entertainment of rodeo to the island of Kauai for both residents and visitors.
The KKHSRA rodeo series begins in September.
