The round played Saturday also marked the first of two rounds of Individual Qualifying.
Team standings following seven weeks of play had Kaua’i boys and girls teams undefeated with seven wins earning 14 points. Kapa’a High School boys team followed with six second-place finishes for six points with Waimea earning a point for their single second-place finish.
With the wins, Kaua’i boys and girls team each earn the KIF title, Kaua’i High School being the only school with a girls team.
The best player of two rounds will be crowned the KIF Individual Champion for the boys and girls division following this Saturday’s round which will be played at the Wailua Golf Course starting at noon.
Current leaders following Saturday’s play has Lehua Wise leading the girls’ race, finishing with a 67. Jennie Pleas and Kiilani Matsuyoshi follow at 73.
Kellen Watabu topped the boys scoring with a 73 followed a stroke back by Bret Netzer and Cory French. Chad Nonaka and Kula School’s Sean Ogawa are also in the chase, finishing Saturday’s round at 76.
