Born in Waimea on Mar. 9, 1939, he was an inspector with the state Department of Land & Natural Resources.
He is survived by wife, Elsie; sons, Nikola (Claudia) Nishi of Waimea, Pete Nishi of Hanapepe, Matthew (Cathy) Iwatate of Mississippi and Richard Iwatate of Makaweli; daughters, Ama Nishi of Honolulu, Donna (Mark) Richards of Hanapepe and Marcella Kaita of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren; step-father, Katoru Kaneko of Waimea; sisters, Lena (Wes) Tanaka of Honolulu, Kiyomi Berry of Waimea, Michie (Noboru) Munechika of Lihue and Gail Kaneko of Honolulu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 29, at the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kalaheo Ward; service to begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at the Kekaha Japanese Cemetery. Casual/Aloha attire is suggested.
