Roxanne “Roxi” Rayno Makena of Lihu’e, died on May 6, 2003, at the age of 40.
Born in Hawai’i on May 12, 1963, she was a partner in Makena Miyake Inc., a tax preparation and bookkeeping services and an accounts payable clerk at YWCA.
She is survived by her daughter, Kashmir; father, Peter Rayno of Lihu’e; mother, Carol Rayno of Lihu’e; sister, Joy (Robin) Medeiros of Kapa’a; grandmother, Minnie Vea of Lihu’e; grandmother, Adele Ochoco of Hanama’ulu; nieces, Ryndie Dettloff and Ronessa Medeiros of Kapa’a; nephews, Pekelo and Kilika Dettloff and Kolton and Chanler Medeiros of Kapa’a; faithful friend, Rusty Cleveland of Lihu’e; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 12, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Borthwick Kauai Mortuary. Catholic service at 6 p.m., Protestant service at 6:45 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Florence Au
Florence Hung Sin Au of Lawa’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 30, 2003 at the age of 92.
Born in Honolulu on July 1, 1910, she was a office clerk for National Tropical Botanical Gardens.
She is survived by two sons, Steve (Irene) Au of Honolulu, David (Eunice) Au of San Diego; daughter, Arleen (Delmer) Brown of Oregon; sister, Fannie Lee Kai of Honolulu, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m. at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens in Kalaheo at 3530 Papalina Rd. Burial will be at Lihu’e Cemetery at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Bernarda Visitacion
Bernarda D. Visitacion, formerly of ‘Ele’ele; died May 2, 2003, in Bacarra, Philippines, at the age of 78.
A housewife, she was born Aug. 21, 1924.
She is survived by: son Alejandro (Flora) Visitacion of Puhi; daughter Josie Ariola of Puhi; son Juan Visitacion of Sacramento, Calif.; son Quirino Visitacion of Kekaha; son Orlando (Cynthia) Visitacion of Santa Clara, Calif.; son Ernesto (Letitia) Visitacion of Seattle, Wash.; son Oscar Visitacion of Bacarra; daughter Zeny (Wil) Arengo of Honolulu; son Nelson Visitacion of Georgia; daughter-in-law Ederlina Visitacion of Bacarra; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Bacarra, Philippines.
Leonard Herbert
Leonard Bailey Herbert passed away with friends at his side on May 3, 2003 at the age of 99. Born in San Bernardino, CA on December 10, 1903.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held on May 12, between 5 and 7 p.m. at the King and I Thai Restaurant, his favorite dining place.
