A dozen legislators are traveling to Kauai today to take a first-hand look at how special education services are run here.
Senator Gary Hooser, D-Kauai and Representative Bertha Kawakami, D-West Kauai are members of the committee.
During the day, the joint Senate-House Investigative Committee is conducting on-site visits at Kauai High School, King Kaumualii Elementary School and at the Mokihana Project.
At 7 p.m. a public hearing is to be held by the committee at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School in Lihue. The public is invited to attend.
The comittee’s mandate is to investigate the State of Hawaii’s compliance with the Felix Consent Decree.
