MAUI — Mokihana Aquatics Swim Club competitor Keenan Anaya had two first-place finishes at the recent Hawaii Long-Course Championship Swim Meet held at the Kihei Aquatic Center in Maui.
Anaya finished tops in the boys 13 and 14 100 and 200-meter fly races.
He also took bronze medals in the 400 free and 200 free events.
He had a solid showing in the preliminary races before finishing first in the final events.
His final time in the 100 fly was 1:07.79 while he finished the 200 event at 2:25.81.
“I swam okay, considering I haven’t been able to practice the last week,” Anaya said.
Anaya’s sister Kesia also had a solid event as she earned preliminary starts in six races with a 14th-place showing in the girls 10 and under 200 free.
In the boys 11 and 12 competition, Kelsey Tanaka earned two final-round starts in the 50 free and breaststroke events.
Tanaka finished the 50 free and breaststroke races in eighth and seventh place at 31.45 and 40.93 respectively.
“Overall, the meet was good,” said Mokihana coach Orlando Anaya.
“Kelsey Tanaka was the story of the meet. He had the meet of his life.
“Not being able to practice 10 days before the state championships was tough. But we still had some good performances.”
