Golf event for youth players
Twenty-eight aspiring baseball players from the Waimea Youth Baseball program need your help in raising funds to attend the Kauai Aloha 2003 Tournament in Carlsbad, California that will take place from July 26 to August 3.
A golf tournament hosted by the Waimea Youth Baseball Association to help defray costs will take place on June 22 at the Kiahuna Golf Course.
Tournament play format is a two-man scramble (20 per cent of total handicap) with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Players are asked to report to the golf course at least 45 minutes prior to start time for registration.
On-course challenges include a closest-to-the pin on par 3, and a longest drive.
Tournament fee is $65 which includes two mulligans and a raffle ticket for a free prize drawing, and a chance at all prizes.

Plantation Day Rodeo
The Kauai Rodeo Club will sponsor the Koloa Plantation Day rodeo which runs July 25-27 at the CJM Country Stables Arena.
The entry deadline is July 13.
On July 25, Slack Roping events begin at 4 p.m. On July 27, the rodeo starts at noon. For more information, call Joyce Miranda at 639-7266.
Kauai Seniors back in action
The Kauai Sr. Citizen Softball League played games at Kaumakani Field on Saturday.
In the first game the Rookies bombed Kuku’s Aces 21-1. Wally Sonoda threw a 3-hitter. His teammates belted Ben Callejo.
The Rookies big bats were Nelly Mendonca with a 2-run homer on three hits, Dickie Sialana a 2-run shot on two hits, both Ray Espino and Stan Dela Cruz had three hits. Solo Reges, Ben Pescador and Lilo Ruiz with a hit each for the Ace’s.
In the second game, Archie Fontanilla got a 4-hitter as the Rookies took their double header 12-2 over East Kauai. Walter Silva took the loss for East Kauai, as Dickie Sialana socked a 3-run homer on three hits Wayne Hashimoto got a 2-run homer on two hits and Walter Souza got three hits.
East Kauai’s four hits came from Les Kubo (two hits), both Don Boro and Norman Holt got one each.
The third game was a see-saw battle as the Lihue “A”s scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 9-8 win over Kawaihau. Buster Matsumura got the win as Ken Tamashiro 4 for 4 as was Glenn Akina with 3 for 3.
Both Dwight Fujii and Joe Munechika with two hits for the Lihue “A”s. Kawaihau’s Paul Guzman cracked a homer on three hits and both Paul Awazu and Ken Tamashiro with two.
The K-Makules spanked West Kauai 13-9. Dado Paiste got the win Joe Silva with the loss.
Lefty Remata and Gordon Arakaki got three hits for K-Makules, while Frank Bukoski went 4 for 4 and Larry Ephan and Jr. Rivera with two. Next games will be at Waimea Park with K-Makules (4-4) taking on the 6-2 Lihue “A”s. Then K-Makule’s meet 1-7 Kawaihau.
In the third game, (6-3) West Kauai gets the undefeated Rookies. Kuku’s Aces (1-7) vs East Kauai (2-6). The first game starts at 9:15 a.m.
