Hawaii, Kauai promoted in Korea
Representatives of the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau will lead a Hawaii contingent to the 16th Korea World Trade Fair, in Seoul, from this Thursday, June 5, through Sunday, June 8. The event is Korea’s largest annual consumer and travel trade show.
Representatives of companies doing business on Kauai, including Marriott & Renaissance Resorts Hawaii, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Hawaii, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts and Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, are all scheduled to participate.
Search is on for best exporters
Gov. Linda Lingle recently announced that the state Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism has launched its annual search for the state’s top exporters. Fresh commodities, professional services, manufactured products, high technology, new exporter and export trading company are the categories, plus Exporter of the Year and Outstanding Contributor to Exporting. Mutual-fund basics is this seminar topic
Edward Jones Investment Representative Ruben J. Rea hosts a free educational seminar, Mutual-Fund Basics, this Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Terrace Restaurant at Kauai Lagoons. He will explain the basics of mutual funds, and how one may build his or her financial future today.

Travel writers learn about island music
The various island chapters of the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau recently hosted travel writers who learned about Hawaiian music from folks like Don Ho, Brothers Cazimero, Na Leo Pilimehana, Kauaians the Papaa Bay Boys, Cindy Combs, and many others. While on Kauai, the writers stayed at the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort.
License renewals can be done online
A spokesperson for the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs recently announced that nurses and acupuncturists needing to renew state licenses may now do so online, at http://www.ehawaiigov.org. Instructions for completing online renewal have been mailed to each registered license holder. Online renewals will be accepted until midnight Monday, June 30.
Aloha Web site has hotel discounts
The Aloha Airlines Web site, http://www.alohaairlines.com, now offers discounts at hotels in destinations the carrier serves, a company spokesman announced. The site also allows travelers to book rental cars online.
Parade of Homes deadline coming
Friday, June 27 is the entry deadline for the annual Parade of Homes, a showcase of new homes across Hawaii. The Building Industry Association of Hawaii sponsors the event. Schuler Homes, which has many different styles of homes on Kauai, has entered this year’s event.
