Pop Warner parent meeting set for Wednesday night
The Hanapepe Colts Pop Warner Association announces an important informational parent meeting for Wednesday, July 23, 2003 starting at 7 p.m.
All interested participants should attend this meeting.
The first day of practice for tackle football will take place on July 28 starting at 4 p.m. at the Hanapepe Stadium.
California, O‘ahu rule G.I. Classic
WAIMEA — A solo homerun by the Kamikaze rightfielder was the deciding factor as Kamikaze took the 16 Under title with a 1-0 win over the Sunflowers Saturday night as the 2003 Garden Island Classic girls softball tournament came to a close.
The Blue Angels of California edged out the Nforcers 1-0 for the title of the 12 Under division with the Lady Magic of California besting the Wildcats, also from California, 4-2 for the 14 Under title Saturday evening at the Waimea Canyon Park.
Wailau, a team hailing from Honolulu, was 5-1 better than the Richmond Ruckus Elite from Virginia to take the 18 Under title.
Na Wahine, the sole Kaua‘i representative in the 18 Under group, finished third by besting the Eastlake Storm of Ohio.
Hokuala and Da Wahines, both 14 Under teams from Lihu‘e made it to the semi-finals Saturday before being bettered by the Wildcats and Lady Magic, both teams battling for the 14 Under title.
KYBA winds up season on Friday night
The Kaua‘i Fire Raiders dropped a pair of games Friday night, July 18 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center as Lorraine Lagoc scored 10 points to lead the Bus Drivers to a 27-8 win over the Fire Raiders 2.
Stephanie Kashiwabara scored five of the team’s eight points in the loss.
Natalie Mata led Waimea with six points in their 18-16 win over the Fire Raiders 1 who was led by Rachael Taira’s 10 points.
The KYBA 17U girls season comes to a close this week with playoffs scheduled for Tuesday and the program championship taking place Friday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The first games tip off at 6 p.m.
