Lee Haumea, 21, of Hanalei, was arraigned Thursday afternoon in District Court on one count of attempted murder in the first degree; three counts of terroristic threatening in the first degree; three counts of reckless endangering in the second degree; two counts of resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle; one count of unauthorized control of a motor vehicle; and one count of reckless driving.
Haumea’s total bail on these charges was set at $99,650. Haumea is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Tuesday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m.
In Fifth Circuit Court in Lihue, Orlando Pea, 42, of Lihue, was sentenced to a five-year term of probation for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and wrongfully carrying a firearm. Special conditions of probation include incarceration for one year, forfeiture of the firearm, payment of court fees, drug treatment and drug testing.
Pea was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and the firearms charge May 9, 2002 by Kauai Police Department vice officers who recovered more than 30 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded .25 caliber pistol during a search of Pea with a warrant.
Pea was also arrested on Dec. 16, 2002 for possession of a glass smoking pipe commonly used to inhale crystal methamphetamine when police investigated a runaway complaint and found the juvenile with Pea. The pipe was found in Pea’s vehicle after a search based in part on the juvenile’s statement that Pea was smoking methamphetamine earlier that day. He entered guilty pleas to the three felony offenses on April 17.
Mark Masters, 37, of Kapaa, was sentenced to a five-year term of probation for felony theft. Special conditions to his probation include 400 hours of community service, court fees, attendance at AA meetings, and alcohol and drug testing. Masters was arrested Feb. 17 after he was caught stealing $789.51 worth of merchandise from Safeway. The stolen items included beer, wine, vodka, malt liquor, lobster, ribs, chicken breasts and other food items.
Masters entered a plea of guilty to the felony theft on April 17.
