Kenneth Date
Kenneth Kazumi Date of Hanalei died on Sept. 19, 2003 at the age of 63.
Born in Honolulu on March 13, 1940, he retired from the U.S. Army in 1992 as a Full Colonel. He served for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Date of Hanalei; two sons, Daniel Date of Honolulu, Tom (Donna) Date of Newport Beach, California; two sisters, Marian (Shinichi) Tsutsui of Kane‘ohe, Barbara (Nathan) Yoshioka of Kailua; brother, Stan (Diane) Date of Northridge, California; grand-daughter, Taylor Date of Honolulu.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Sept. 26, at Fort DeRussy, Honolulu. Visitation from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in National Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Aloha attire is suggested.

Jose Marquez
Jose Bangayan Marquez of Po‘ipu died on Sept. 20, 2003 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 95.
Born in San Manuel, San Roque, Pangasinan, Philippines on May 26, 1908, he retired in 1973 as a ditchman from McBryde Sugar Cane Company. He worked for McBryde for 46 years.
Preceded in death by his wife, Ambrocia Balmores Gampon, he is survived by two brothers, Sylvestre Marquez of Honolulu, Benito Marquez of Honolulu; sister, Agripina Marquez of the Philippines; five sons, E.V. “Mike” Gampon of Tacoma, Washington, Rico Gampon of Po‘ipu, Benjamin Gampon of Mililani, Frank Gampon of Oma‘o, Jose Gampon of Po‘ipu; daughter, Josephine Gampon of San Carlos, California; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Sept. 29, from 6-9 p.m. at the Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa and again on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. at the Salvation Army, 4182 Hardy St., Lihu‘e. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

Josephine Villanueva
Josephine “Tinang” Villanueva of Oma‘o, died at Hale Omao on Sept. 18, 2003 at the age of 93.
Born in the Philippines on Aug. 10, 1910, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her five daughters, Trini (George) Dumlao, Connie (David) Travis, Rose (Carmen) Whatley, Helen Alviar, Juanita (Anthony) Chandler; son, James (Carol Alviar; daughter-in-law, Dolly Cerenio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family Friday, Sept. 26, 9 – 11 a.m. at Waimea Sacred Heart. Service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
